Thought of the week - Love Is In The Air

“Love is in the air…” since it’s the Valentine’s Day. Youngsters anxiously wait for this day to let their sweethearts know how much they care.
But The Divine being doesn’t wait for any special day for the manifestation of His Love and bounty. We must understand how sacred love is. It isn’t something that can be bought off the shelf and distributed. Love is also not something reserved for just a “sweetheart”.
Expression of love should also not be reserved for one special day. We shouldn’t wait to tell those special people in our lives how much we care. Love needs expression, at every moment, every day. Your loved ones deserve it not only on one particular day. And who has seen tomorrow. So be generous; it’s never too late. Give your love away; it only multiplies.
Let’s celebrate love and leave your mark on the lives you touch!

Wisdom Corner - Love: The Mystic Way

By: Muhammad Haris

Love in the words of Ghazali (R.A) is the dynamic force of direct contemplation of Divine attributes manifest under the aspect of limitations in the universe – the phenomenal world of multi forms and colours. Love can prove an incentive for kindling the fire in the soul in order that the Divine Endowments are released within, igniting the power, the ability and passion to understand, affirm, and appreciate the Beauty of Good Work.
Rumi speaks about ardent Love, quoting Hassan of Basra (728 AD) regarding God:

“When My servant devotes himself to praise and recollection of ME and takes delight in it, he loves Me and I love him”

[Ashikani (he loves me) wa (and) ashiktuhu (I love him)].

Soul's Reflections - Love

By: Shazia Yousuf

Love is, when a father gets angry at his daughter for forgetting to tell him that she’ll be late from work. He is not angry because she did not inform him, but because he is concerned for her out of love.
Love is, when a wife is upset with the husband when he forgets to take the lunch to work, that was so lovingly prepared for him in the morning. Not because she had to get up and go through the pains of preparing it, but because she is concerned about the health and the well being.

Love is, when a poor maid beats up her daughter for not working as hard as she does because she loves her and wants her to learn to earn her own living and not depend on anyone once she’s gone.

Love is, when a mother takes away a toy from the kids fighting over it. She’s doing it not to punish them, but out of love for both the children. She wants them to learn to share and care and to grow up learning to compromise.
I felt loved whenever I got that sweet reminder to have “a cup of milk” whenever I had that appetite loss.

Mother - A Spiritual Relationship

By: Sadaf Chaudhary

We are all chained in different relationships. It is a sort of bonding and an acquaintance between two human figures living on the earth. A spiritual relationship is one that aims for the highest good for those in the relationship. It is something that facilitates our spiritual growth. Among all relationships, no relationship can aim for our highest good other than that of a mother.

Wisdom Corner - Who Shall Receive The Divine Compassion?

This piece of writing was addressed as follows:
To all interested and known or not known. From a slave (sinner, seeking forgiveness)

By: Muhammad Haris

“On the other side, there is another type of man who devotes his entire life to win Allah’s favour. To such persons Allah is Most Compassionate.” (2:207)
This verse, though very short and completely independent, is highly thought provoking. It carries deep meaning to those who possess interest in the understanding of the words of Allah intended to open up the minds of men to their benefit and not “His”. Various commentators have not ventured to catch the inner meaning hidden inside this small verse.
Daata “Ganj Bakhsh” has expressed his views on this in Kashf-ul-Mahjub (original page 558).

Soul's Reflections - Consumed By the Self

By: Shazia Yousuf

When the hearts turn that of stone, frozen, solid, nothing seems to be able to penetrate into it or even out of it. What remains inside sinks deep within, trapped, concealed, secluded, excommunicate – “Consumed by the self”!

This is the ailment that appalls the heart and devours the entire soul slowly and passively, leaving it in a solitude, surrounded by the mound of distress seemingly so enormous, more towering than the small heaps of problems of all the others! And apparently you are alone, left to cross over the mound all by yourself. The ailment of not being able to see beyond your own self leaves you in a solitary distress, anticipating support from those around, but unable to actually feel the presence of all the love that surrounds; the arms that are stretched out, awaiting to be held, but all in vain. The soul is blinded, trapped within the frozen heart, sealed and bolted in the locks of the self!

Soul's Reflections - Restless Soul

By: Shazia Yousuf

By: Shazia Yousuf

Standing alone, feet bathing in cool waves from the huge ocean that is stretched right in front of me.
My gaze fixed at the sea, as if in a trance, thoughts as deep as the ocean.

Staring at the waves making ripples, the ocean roaring so loud, yet it brings peace to the heart.

My heart is not here with me, it’s wandering, away from me, somewhere, where the sounds of the ocean reach, maybe the other end, where my heart actually belongs, where it rests in peace.

The soul is restless, there’s a desire burning, wanting to be where the heart is, desiring the union of the soul with the heart, wishing for the heart’s abode to be right next to it, wanting for it to travel all those miles, to be with the heart…wanting to drown in the ocean of Divine love, desiring to be where there is eternal peace…

Wisdom Corner - Points To Ponder

From the diary of Muhammad Haris:

  • Essence of Religion is Love (Ghazali)
  • Love is the Service of mankind.(Service to God) [Steven Covey]
  • His Service is Righteousness. (Allama Yousuf Ali)
  • Righteousness is thy beloved! (Righteous conduct is the true religion.) [Afkar-e-Ghazali]
  • Love is apart from all religions. (Rumi)
  • Love demands sacrifice.
  • Religion without sacrifice is sin.
  • Lovers have no religion but God alone.
  • When we live the primary laws of love, we encourage obedience to the primary laws of life.

Wisdom Corner - The Divine Self Manifestation

By: Muhammad Haris
One cannot be a leader of others till he becomes the leader of his own life. If he leads the laws of love, then he can encourage others to lead the laws of life. The Prophet always preached the Truth with an emphasis on leading the life of peace and reconciliation. He preached the principle of peaceful co-existence by emphasis on liberating the human kind from poverty, hunger, disease and despair, ignorance and illiteracy, terror, tyranny and violence. This can be possible only if there is a plantation of love inside the human heart.
This is the only way of life prescribed by the Divine operating system which says that the obedience to the Prophet constitutes Love of Divine essence.
Imam Ghazali, known as the “Proof of Islam” has very emphatically opined that
