The Last Sermon of Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h)

By: Shazia Yousuf

The last sermon by Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) was the final message for the entire mankind. It was a beautiful and a very comprehensive farewell speech that summarized the duties and obligations of a good Muslim and a good human being. This sermon needs to be recalled over and over again.

The Last Sermon of Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h)
[A summary read by Cat Stevens]

Today, we seem to have digressed from the essence of The Divine Message. This has lead to the misfortune and adversity that we are facing. We must remember the essence of this message and make it a part of our lives.

Justice and Spirituality of Hazrat Ali

Ali bin Abi Talib, son in law and cousin of the Prophet, first Shia Imam and the fourth caliph of the Islamic community. He was described by the Prophet as the ‘gate’ to the 'city of knowledge'.
“I am the city of knowledge and Ali is the gate; so whoever desires knowledge, let him enter the gate.”
Imam Ali lived physically in the shadow of the Prophet and absorbed spiritually all that radiated from him. The intimacy of the relationship between the Prophet and Hazrat Ali is summed up in one of the sermons of the Imam:
“When I was but a child he took me under his wing…I would follow him [Prophet] as a baby camel follows the footsteps of its mother. Every day he would raise up for me a sign of his noble character, commanding me to follow it. He would go each year into seclusion at [the mountain of] Hira. I saw him and nobody else saw him…I saw the light of revelation and the message, and I smelt the fragrance of prophecy…”
Here are some of the words of wisdom, spirituality and justice, that Imam Ali left for us to remember and to practice.

Today's Thought - Prophet Muhammad (s.m)

By: Shazia Yousuf

"...if a branch is laden with fruit, it pulls the branch down, whereas a branch that bears no fruit holds its head up high, ...."

Prophet Muhammad (s.m) was extremely humble, because all the fruits of this world and the next were gathered upon him. He was the most humble of men.

No one was able to precede the Messenger of God in making a greeting. No one was able to offer greetings before the Prophet, because the Prophet, being extremely humble, would always greet the other first.

His heart was pure; just like a polished mirror, open to receive an infinite number of images. Polished hearts are purified of greed, desire, envy and hatered.

May God guide us to kindle that desire in our hearts to purify our souls, to kill the ego that compells us to pull our heads up high in vanity, to bear the fruits of humility and follow the right path destined for us by the Divine Being.

Wisdom Corner - Deen il Haque

By: Muhammad Haris

We find in the Prophet a noble personality, a balanced character, and a beautifully integrated individual. He was a total expression of surrender of his will and purpose of The Lord of creation. He conducted his life the way Allah wanted him to conduct, in all forms and manifestations. If we want earnestly to learn the true meaning and insight of Dee nil Haque, then we must go very deep inside the life of the Prophet. His life is a complete application of the divine principles as enunciated in the signs revealed unto him over a period of time exposing each and every aspect of human life with guidance as to how to live it to the profit.

“Liyuzhirahu aladdeeni kullihi”

means He wills to be expressed in the way of life (Deen) in all its aspects – to be exposed in all forms and manifestations, not a single aspect of human life to remain unexposed, unguided or undefined. So the law of Muhammad declared complete in all respect needing no further messenger revelations. The book is just more than enough for us to seek guidance. We need therefore no further assistance in any matter relating to our day to day operational requirement. Our basic requirement therefore is to learn the contents of the book through renderings by different scholars. We are supposed to apply our own mind and use our own intellect which Allah has bestowed on us by virtue of our creation into Ahsan-e-Taqweem (strong/ good stature) and in the light of ‘Khalaqa fasawwa’ and ‘Qaddara Fahada’.
